Łowicz folk art is one of the most recognizable styles in Poland. Its distinctive feature is a rich variety of colors. Łowicz paper cut-outs, decorated with traditional local patterns, are especially popular and are among the best-known motifs in Polish folk art. The tradition of paper cut-outs and beautiful folk designs has survived to this day and can be found not only in traditional form, but also in a new version — Polish ethno design. The colorful folklore of Łowicz is one of Poland’s most recognizable folk traditions. It comes from the historic region of the former Duchy of Łowicz, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, around the towns of Łowicz and Skierniewice. Today, Łowicz folk design is enjoying a revival and appears on everyday items, clothing, souvenirs, and many other products. This helps preserve Polish folk art and promote its rich cultural heritage. At Artfolk, you’ll find original compositions of Łowicz patterns designed by ethno designer Małgorzata Bądkowska, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts.
